“I like taking photos of music of all genres: there’s an energy and a tension in musicians’ performances which is similar to that in athletes. This shot of conductor Tomáš Hanák was taken at a dress rehearsal for the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra’s New Year Concert. The New Year Concert began with the overture to Bedřich Smetana’s The Kiss. The orchestra also rehearsed Dvořák’s Rusalka, which is regularly placed in the top five most played operas ever. The welcome to the New Year ended with George Bizet’s Carmen,” says Luděk Peřina.
Luděk Peřina was born in 1967 in Olomouc. He graduated from Palacký University Olomouc (1991 in Analytical Chemistry at the Science Faculty). He attended Milena Valušková’s photography courses at the Miloslav Stibor art school in Olomouc. Photojournalist: 1992 - 1994 Hanácké noviny, 1994 - 1995 Czech News Agency, 1995 - 2011 Mladá fronta Dnes, since 2012 – Czech News Agency.
